Truth-be-told, we wish there was no need for LG Health’s Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute. But there is, and we’re so grateful to the LG Health system for having stepped up with a national treasure in cancer treatment and convenient, holistic support to the patient and family.

Scheffey has been part of the Cancer Institute from the earliest phases. We started by working with the LG Health Foundation on the multiple-year capital campaign. Shortly after celebrating the opening, we were asked to develop the theme, brand, and materials for their event to raise dollars for the Cancer Patient Support Fund which provides assistance to patients facing financial hardship as a result of a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Known as Gingham Gala and having recently wrapped up the third event, we’ve helped the Foundation raise a total of $279,000. Yay Lancaster Community!

This may be Lancaster’s most significant gift from the community to the community. Yes, it’s a stunning architectural masterpiece from the outside. But it’s what happens inside for the patients and families that is truly amazing. Scheffey’s pride to playing a small role in the impact the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute has on people in our community runs deep and wide.
