GLEN ROCK, Pa. (April 7, 2009) – ARx, LLC, a subsidiary of Adhesives Research, is pleased to announce the creation of its billionth oral thin film strip (OTF). The billionth strip rolled through production on March 1, 2009.

The size of one OTF strip is smaller than a postage stamp, so one billion strips positioned end-to-end would span a distance of 2,485 miles, or 4000 kilometers. That’s longer than the Mississippi River and further than the distance from New York to Los Angeles.

“This is an incredible accomplishment for our team, particularly when you think that we have produced enough strips to lay end-to-end across the United States,” said Beth Vondrak VP/GM of ARx. “We are only just beginning our journey for OTFs. The dissolvable film technology is now being considered for a number of new applications in dermal, medical and biopharma applications.”

This milestone follows closely on the opening of ARx’s 25,000 sq. ft. pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The stand-alone cGMP manufacturing facility is located on Adhesives Research’s Glen Rock, Pa., campus and operates multiple pharmaceutical manufacturing lines.
